The Coronavirus has left us working from home and tentatively making, followed by permanently canceling, plans for weddings, parties, and social gatherings.
Fashion is constantly evolving, and so are we. It’s not uncommon to go out and not recognize a lot of people from our younger years. Yet, one thing hasn’t changed, and that’s the way we shop for clothes.
It’s easy to roll your eyes as you read this from your pajamas—on day three of wearing the same pair of leggings—and answer “well, duh.

What Is Street Style
To stand out in the crowd, don’t dress just like everybody else. Walk a bit differently. Look confident and comfortable, but don’t try to emulate someone else. Dress for yourself.
Yes, that includes getting some coffee and groceries. You can change your mood by changing your clothing, so don’t hesitate to experiment.
It can be a perfect mix of personalization and what is currently in style.

Work? Street style works as a way to invite those questions without necessarily offering answers.
Street style is a popular activity. A great way to enjoy the world around you.
Social media exploded in popularity around the same time and the ease of showing off your outfits became incredibly easy. If you’re looking to stand out from the crowd, this is the book for you! Now, that wasn’t so hard, was it?
The virtual thumbs up (or double-tap, save, or share) allows you to become your own advertiser, allowing you to reach many customers and create some buzz at once.
What Is Sofa Style
Loungewear, or sofas style, is everything in-between formal wear and your ratty sweats. From silk pajamas to fine-gauge cashmere sweaters, and everything in between.
Jeans are an understated essential for any wardrobe. A lot of the time, we wear them without even thinking about it.

This example of sofa style is called leggings. It has long pants with a zipper that goes all the way up the front and comes to the ankles. They also have big pockets in the hips for storage.
This is any product you’d immediately want to rub your cheek against if you saw it hanging in the store (before the pandemic, of course.)
Streetwear is not just for the streets. Even the world’s largest and richest cities have small portions of their population that don’t own any expensive clothing.
Loungewear Trending Forecasts
The sofa has always been considered a casual and comfortable piece of furniture, but now people want it to be the great loungewear pivot. Last year, Medium reported a study taken from more than 16,000 retail locations and saw a 433% spike in consumer demand for loungewear.
It’s been the year of the tailor-made suit and this trend isn’t going anywhere, but the end of a century-long tradition could spell bad news for high-end tailors. This and NPR’s headline claiming there was a whooping 79% dive in clothing sales after the first wave of the virus.
This is really starting to look like a solid case for Team Sofa. Advertising jumped on the soft-style bandwagon long ago. You’ve probably seen Kentaro Kameyama from the reality TV show, Project Runway. Recently, he released a new line of loungewear and you can get it here.

Spring and fall collections are debuting in the virtual world for their debuts.
There is no longer paparazzi lurking outside the best private clubs and waiting for the influencers to show their fashion, before they slip away to catch their next set of celebs.
She launched the spring collection online this past September, and it sold out instantly! Now, she’s planning to launch it in person this spring.
Models strut their stuff in high fashion for your viewing pleasure in this fun and light-hearted take on the runways of the industry’s hottest fashion weeks around the world.
One of the places we seem to spend more time in than ever these days.

After speaking with screen refugees from their personal lives, a shocking reality was discovered: Screens in living rooms have completely replaced personal interaction for many.
They weren’t so quick to admit they’ve let sloppy become the new sleek.
Most people can’t live without their sweats, and I used to dream about having a day where I could do laundry without anyone seeing me or caring if I did. Now that I have the option, I can’t wait to live a little more dressed up, and I’m grateful for the time we have to enjoy life as we normally would.
When it comes to hair washing, we are all way more effective when we wash our hair and throw on a belt.
The Bottom Line
Comfort has been at the forefront of fashion since the 1920s when it first began to permeate the American population.
Streetwear has been evolving for decades. It was just a matter of time until startups offered loose work from home polices, well beyond the pandemic.

At the same time, the pressures of the pandemic have affected our daily style and buying habits, but we haven’t completely forgotten about dressing up either.
The best way to think of these two is like the two sides of a dance. They’re good friends, but they don’t always agree on everything.
There’s only one way to find out.
The Rise of Street Style Loungewear
When you have nothing better to do during the days of quarantines, why not take it to the streets! This is the story of a family who lived in sweatsuits and sweatshirts for two whole years. Then it was the fact that state governments began phased reopening of establishments, restaurants, etc.
After spending a lot of time at home, we’ve now started to leave the house a little more frequently for safe, socially-distanced events. We had trouble transitioning out of our old clothing in the middle of this transition. Are you wearing uncomfortable clothing? Do you need a new suit? Have you worn a bra for years, and now your breasts are sagging? How about a new bodysuit or a sexy new dress?

In order to ensure that the women in our new norm of cozy loungewear were able to dress up as well, we looked at the best-selling brands for casual and sportswear and created a fusion. Lifestyle companies saw a huge change in interest towards their street style loungewear.
It’s a new wave. I remember, at one point, every ad on my Instagram feed was for a new lifestyle brand that marketed their sporty-chic take. Although they are no longer a novelty, they still catch my eye. It’s that kind of laid-back but put-together aesthetic that draws in everyone. A little bit of effort goes a long way.
The price of most of these cool companies isn’t cheap, and the higher the price, the more people complain about it. Some companies have made a lot of money off of creating stylish, affordable and comfortable shirts. They started by focusing on the basics. Now, they are getting into other products such as sweatshirts, jackets, and shorts.

Some companies have taken an affordable approach to the street style loungewear. But, you may be surprised to know that the only ones that make it “big time” are the pricey lifestyle brands that influencers and celebrities promote all over social media.
As I eagerly anticipated receiving my investment, I started to explore other similar brands with the same aesthetic. I came across two lifestyle brands: Madhappy and Pangaia. Madhappy is a lifestyle brand with a community of local optimists who live their best life. Each brand is different and each has a mission, message and approach to street style that resonates with a large following of people.

Your sweatpants finally arrived! They looked so cool, I couldn’t wait to wear them! The sturdy feel of the french terry cotton made me feel like I was wearing nothing at all. Though the amount I’d spent on the items made me feel a little ill at ease, I wanted to see what it looked like in action.
Although I don’t know why the university bought so many Carolina Blue sweatsuits, I got loads of compliments walking around campus. I looked and felt super chill, but also super presentable. It was a weird, exploratory feeling, but it was a feeling that I knew I wanted more of. I’m not here to tell you to buy a lifestyle brand’s clothing just for the fun of it. Street style loungewear is in demand in the fashion industry for two reasons–because it’s up-and-coming and because it’s trendy.
