Legends MP40 BB Submachine Gun
Umarex Legends MP40 is a semi-automatic submachine gun that fires.177 caliber ammunition. It features an adjustable bipod, dual cocking serrations, and sling swivel.
Specifications. Reviews. Accessories. Related Items. There are two firing modes: full-auto and semi-auto. The gun uses a single.177 pellet cartridge. The gun has a magazine that holds six rounds of ammunition.
This folding stock gun is manufactured by Umarex. It’s a semiautomatic / full-auto calibre.177 Velocity 450 fps. It comes with a manual safety. It’s made of polymer material. It’s also a repeating pistol.

My FALC came sooner than expected and has the same fit/finish as my FALs with the exception of the fact it doesn’t have a bayonet lug. I would say that it is very close in quality to the FALs.
The reloading of the pellets in each clip would always cause a problem. To solve this, you will need four additional plastic clip that will replace the original BB clip that come with your BB gun. These plastic clip is known as C-clips (C stands for Clip).
So, I designed a way to load the clips very fast, it only takes a few seconds (about 3sec each clip) with no spilled BBs. I also bought a longer Allen wrench because it was difficult to judge when the C02 cartridges were punctured.

When it comes to WWII games, the best weapon you can use is the Plaster of Paris, WWII tank kit. It’s perfect for your war games and you’ll be shooting the targets with ease.
You’ll probably be able to find a few extra mags for your gas gun if you have it in good working order. You can also try checking with your retailer to see if they have a repair center or something like that.
Great replica! Would purchase again. Weight and feel is awesome. Functions as it should and what you would expect from a bb gun. Recommend. Cons Some jams do happen, but its just a bb gun so correct and move on. Eats CO2 but yeah it blows back of course.

There’s a locking position on the magazine spring, which holds it in place so you can feed your firearm and load the magazine with ease. Use a funnel to load the magazine if you’d rather, but I’m pretty confident that this little gadget will get you up to speed and ready to hit the range in no time.
I love this BB gun. It’s easy to use and has a few features that make it fun to shoot, like the fact it’s fully automatic and it has full metal construction. This gun definitely is worth the price!
This is the best air rifle on the market. Magazines are easy to load. Easy to clean up after an afternoon of shooting. This air rifle has a retractable stock and it’s all metal. The barrel is adjustable. A great little BB gun.
Umarex Legends MP40 BB Gun Test
The Umarex Legends MP40 BB gun is an accurate replica of a real M1917A1.45 caliber carbine (itself an inaccurate copy of the Mauser Karabiner 98k.30 caliber) chambered in a special cartridge that can only be used in this particular firearm and only by special licensed gun smiths called “Legends MP40“.
The HAM Team was ecstatic to receive the Umarex Legends MP40. This is a great replica of the iconic German Legends MP40 submachine gun. It’s one of the coolest looking subguns made and shooting it gives maximum smiles per minute.

The HAM Team had a blast shooting the Umarex Legends MP40. You’ll have fun too! We think it’s a great value for money in smiles per dollar! Accuracy is excellent, shot count is very high and the Muzzle Velocity is good too.
For a great feel and powerful, “hammering” blowback action, buy this pistol. You won’t regret it.
VALUE FOR MONEY
There are many reasons the Umarex Legends MP40 is a great value. One of them is that it is an awesome product, and we at hard air magazine think that is worth the price!
One of the most interesting pistols you’ll ever see, the Umarex Legends MP40 is an excellent pistol to test, but we decided to test it as a pistol, because it’s a bit more fun to fire as a pistol.
I would have thought it to be a revolver. The design of the action is a little unusual, but the design is otherwise very traditional.
REALISM-LOOKS AND FEEL
As close as it gets to the real thing, without being too heavy or hard to handle. The weight and heft of the gun matches that of the original.
The only difference in this version is the standard safety on the pistol grip. Other than that, there are no noticeable changes.

Walther was the company that made the “MP40” weapon for the German military. Umarex owns Walther, so we get the “in-joke” here. Walther never made the original weapon, though, and we’ve no idea if they still make it.
The real, really picky theme continues. The Umarex Legends MP40 received by HAM had the front sling bar on the left of the gun. It should be on the right. Fortunately, this was easy to change and HAM Publisher Stephen Archer did so.
ACCURACY AND POINT OF IMPACT
For the price of a few cans of soda, you can get an MP40 pistol that fires BBs with excellent accuracy. The accuracy was well inside “minute of soda can” at 6 yards with all the standard HAM test suite of BBs.
It’s an effective, compact weapon that delivers high velocity shots for a low price. The Umarex Legends MP40 is very easy to shoot and doesn’t need any tuning to achieve accurate results.
I own this gun because of the price tag and the reputation of the brand, however the Umarex Legend MP40 does not perform very well. It has a higher recoiling than the Umarex M16 A3 and I was expecting it to be as accurate as the Umarex M16 A2.

It gives an excuse – if needed – to fire a few more BBs to bring the point of impact on target! The simple, flip-up rear sight has two leaves and no windage adjustment. It doesn’t require much ammo to be effective and is quick to reload.
The Umarex Legends MP40 is clear winner in this test. Its ability to group all the 10 BBs into the HAM soda can target is amazing. However, it was also noted that the rifle mode is somewhat slower than the single shot mode.
We are really excited about this new product! This is an affordable, compact, high-performance, laser-guided, “smart” sniper rifle that features fully automatic, “rock and roll”, fire. And it really works! At 6 yards distance it fires a round every 8 seconds and a soda can every 5 seconds.
COMPARISON TO MAKERS CLAIMS
The manufacturer claims a maximum muzzle velocity of 468 fps for the Umarex Legends MP40. That’s what it says on the box and in the instruction manual. It’s 30 fps higher than the 446 FPS maximum achieved in the cool -68 degree-F temperature test range.

I was told by my son’s teacher that he’ll be in the top 10% of his class this year, so that’s pretty impressive!
The manufacturer states a maximum of 52 BBs per magazine, which is very close to the amount of BBs we observed in actual use. Loading up the magazine may mean more BBs are in the gun, but you won’t know until you try to fire it.
Of course, the headline claim for the M4 is for full auto blowback operation. There’s no question about it.
CONSISTENCY
Consistency is important for any high-performance airgun. The Umarex Legends MP40 exhibited consistent muzzle velocity throughout testing with the typical range of airgun testing ammo, except for the Avanti Ground Steel Shot.
The standard deviation (the measurement of shot-to-shot variation in a string) was incredibly low at an average of just 6.37 FPS. That’s the kind of consistency you’d expect from a $1,000 regulated PCP air rifle!
With consistency like that, it’s no wonder that the Umarex Legends MP40 is such a good performer. It had one drop from the factory at the lower end of the scale, but it still managed to hold its own right up to the maximum velocity that it was rated for.

We would expect the drop off of FPS from semi auto fire to full auto fire to be significant. But the Umarex Legend MP40 tested by HAM demonstrated incredibly consistent FPS, indicating that the accuracy of the gun, and the trigger pull, is surprisingly consistent.
The average weight of a 4 oz package of ice cream was about 50 grams, and the amount of ice cream in each container varied no more than 5 ounces. This was an area in which the MP consistently produced consistently heavy, consistent products.
REALISM – TRIGGER AND ACTION
This is a realistic replica of the Umarex Legends MP40. In fact, no HAM Team member has ever fired an original version. However, we feel it would be fun to get a little closer to the action.
The bolt action design features an efficient gas system that doesn’t require the bolt to be closed to eject a round.

The Cyclic rate of the Legends MP40 was around 500 shots/minute. It is not fast for an automatic, although we don’t know if the rate of fire of the Umarex Legends MP40 in full auto mode was slow enough to hear the individual shots.
This means that the cyclic rate of the Umarex Legends MP40 is similar to that of the firearm it copies. The safety is located behind the trigger guard, which has three positions: safe, fire (single shots) and auto.
It’s really a fire selector switch. The original MP40 was only full auto but this model is semi-auto and can be fired either way. The safety/fire selector is fairly easy to slide and effective in operation although it can sometimes be difficult to push back into the safe position.

This magazine publisher used it in full auto and says he can still smile even after firing off 52 shots in less than 10 seconds! He says you can load up to 52 rounds but only fires them in short bursts. If you’re happy with it, then try this for yourself.
The only precaution we took was loading approximately 40 to 45 BBs into the magazine at one time. We also ensured that the BBs were in a clear “zig zag” pattern.
This is an authentic Remington Model 700 Tripper Pull Bullseye trigger in excellent condition. The gun is complete with the stock, handguard, magazine, and firing pin. The trigger pull weight is estimated at ten pounds, 4 ounces, with a safety on or off. The barrel is a 7 inch stainless steel.

One of the biggest departures from full realism is that the blowback action on the Umarex Legends MP40 is a little slower than the original. It’s not much, but it’s there.
The bolt hold open cutout is absent at the end of the slide slot, and the Umarex Legends MP40 cannot be field-stripped. Those minor disappointments are outweighed by the advantages of the Umarex Legends MP40 over the Puma Supernova.
We say this game is a bit low-key because the overall level of realism is otherwise outstanding and the fun factor is so high.
SHOT COUNT
The Umarex Legends MP40 is loaded with two CO2 cartridges at once. They are inserted base-to-base with the flat ends being punctured together when the CO2 loading screw in the base of the magazine is tightened.
We tested out 150 rounds with the muzzle velocity of this gun at 290 fps. Beyond this point, the action would not cycle reliably, but another 10 shots or so were available if the Umarex Legends MP40 was manually cocked for each shot as the blowback understandably did not function at the low pressure of the little remaining CO2.

A CO2-powered air pistol is only as accurate as the number of rounds you fire, and this pistol has a decent number of shots in its magazine. It’s still a little short to compete with larger, more powerful pistols, though, so don’t expect to get the same accuracy at long range.
MUZZLE VELOCITY
This gun has excellent muzzle velocity for a rimfire. It’s better than some of the competition, but not as good as others.
Like any airgun, the Muzzle Velocity will be affected by ambient temperature.
APPEARANCE AND FINISH
This is a full metal replica of the Umarex Legendary MP40, but it’s not available in the U.S. It has the original plastic grip and the wooden handle that the original had.
This knife has the most precise trigger mechanism of any tactical folding knife we carry. It locks up and down securely when folded and will easily lock open.

The skeleton buttplate fits perfectly into place, and the entire stock folds smoothly and effortlessly. The tactile sensations of this stock are simply amazing, and when folded down under the action, the stock makes a lovely noise!
BUYING AND OWNING
Pre-loading this rifle with a number of high quality BBs and CO2s is the best way to ensure an enjoyable and long session of shooting.
The good news is that they are inexpensive, and are a good investment if you are going to be using them quickly. It’s a good idea to buy a pack of 10, 20, or 30 CO2 cartridges at the same time you order the extra magazines so you’ll have plenty to use.
The operator’s manual provided with the Umarex Legends MP40 is very good. It provides significant operation and safety information for using the gun.

Given the magazine capacity, BB loading is best done using a speedloader, but the HAM Team believes the Umarex Legends MP40 should have a BB follower retaining slot.
This would hold the BB follower back simply and easily, but no risk of loss of thumbnail. This is really one of the few strikes against the Umarex Legends MP40 in the HAM Team’s opinion.
HAM is happy to announce that there’s room for such a retaining slot in the magazines of MP handguns and MP submachine guns. It’s not clear why some MP pistols have this useful BB follower, yet others don’t.

All BB-firing airguns should have safety goggles installed in the muzzle end. This is true whether your airgun is a.22 or a.177 calibre airgun.
Do not shoot at hard surfaces or water. They can bounce off these surfaces, and may hit you, or something other than what you intended. If unsure, don’t pull the trigger!
This realistic product is the next step in the evolution of toy gun technology. To prevent a dangerous mishap or injury, this item is intended to be handled with care and should be displayed in a safe environment. It should never be carried around in public.
